5 Tips To Get Your Grill Ready For Grill Season

Memorial day is less than a week away – are you ready for the long weekend and your big backyard BBQ bash? No need to panic just yet ,we have several tips and tricks that will help get your grill looking like new again, just in time for the unofficial start of summer!

Tip #1: Inspect from Top to Bottom

If your grill has been hibernating for the winter, it’s important to give it a good once-over for any problems, before firing it up for your fiesta. Look for signs of rust (if the grill has been exposed to the elements), bugs and other debris that may have accumulated while not in use. Often neglected, it is imperative to check the fuel line on gas grills. After giving it a visual check for any cracks, try the soapy water test. Brush soapy water on the line and along the connections; If you see bubbles while the gas is running, tighten your connections or replace the line.

Tip #2: De-grease Is The Word

Get down and dirty with a good, old fashion scrubbing. Start by removing the grill gates and wiping down the interior of the grill. Before removing grill gates be sure that the gas supply is off and the knobs are off, as well. Safety first!  It is helpful to use something on the softer side, like a paper towel or sponge to remove any grease or residue. Warm soapy water should do the trick or, if preferred, a homemade solution of water and distilled white vinegar makes for the perfect, natural de-greaser.

Owners of Vintage luxury gas grills should pay special attention to cleaning the over sized drip tray as it catches excess fats and grease while cooking. Removing the grease will help reduce the chance of flare-ups, which is good to keep in mind as the summer rolls on!

Tip #3: Don’t Forget About the Outside

The outside of the grill is just as important as the inside where your food will  be cooking. While cleaning, you may be tempted to use the age-old “wax on, wax off” approach, but for Vintage and Heat brand grills, specifically, its 304-grade stainless steel, is best cleaned scrubbing in the direction of the grain.Wipes are also a great quick fix to use in between uses and after every cookout. The cleaner you keep your grill the longer that it will last!

Tip #4: Fuel up

Now that your grill is all clean and ready to go, you will need to fuel up! On gas grills, you’ll want to check/measure your fuel level to ensure you are set for your backyard fete. Conversely, when using the Vintage Charcoal Grill make sure that you seal the bag of charcoal after each use so that the fuel does not evaporate. The spacious cooking grid and front door access are designed to make it easy to replenish the charcoal while you are grilling. Storage in an airtight bin is typically encouraged.

Tip #5: Fiery Accessories!

Once your grill is in tip-top shape, it’s time for the fun part; accessorize!  Whether pairing your grill with additional storage doors and drawers, side burners, rotisserie, or the full kitchen sink (built-in bartender, anyone?), your entire outdoor experience can hinge upon having the right tools. For example, the Vintage Grill Cover is made of  heavy duty vinyl and is essential to ensure that your grill withstands all the elements of the outdoors and looks as good as new, year after year. Additionally, it’s powerful Side Burner features 17,000 BTU’s and wind protected brass burners, flexible enough for crab boils, to simmering beans and everything in between.
